Another June, another Bonnaroo Metal Lungies is going to. Starting today we will be roaming the farm in Murfreesboro basking in the glory of the 10th anniversary of the completely sold out festival.

If you aren’t fortunate enough to be in Ten-a-key, VEVO will be live streaming a lot of the performances, and Comedy Central will have an event on Sunday from the Comedy Tent.

In case you need to some suggestions on who/what to check out, here are our picks (in chronological order):

If you are like myself, and pack last minute, I’ve listed some non-camping, basic survival essentials after the jump that you want to make sure to have.

• 5 pairs of socks, underwear.
• 5 Shirts, shorts
• Poncho
• Windbreaker/Hoodie
• Gum
• Water/Bottle
• Gold Bond (Worth it’s weight in.. Gold.)
• TP
• Blister Kit + Bandaids
• Cash $$$, to avoid the ATMz.
• Baby Wipes
• Clif Bars (or whatever bars you like, it’s what I get by, food wise for the majority of the festival)
• Flashlight (so you don’t step on sleeping hippies scattered around!)
• Poncho (a solid one.)
• Bandanna
• Cell Phone charger, extra battery
• Camera (YOUR FB FREINDS DEMAND THIS)
• Hat (pref. *not* black and wool)
• Toothbrush/Toothpaste (and special cleaner for those with grillz, right, Lil Wayne?)
• Pen (to write deep thoughts in your moleskin journals)
• Flip-Flops
• Towel
• Plastic zip bags

Paul White is no stranger to psych rock. Last year’s Paul White & The Purple Brain saw Paul take on the work of Swedish psych rocker ST Mikael. This time, he beefs up British duo Malachai’s “Anne” with a thick bassline and lots of other sounds and effects. Watch the video for the original below.

Perhaps the coolest project to come out of the LA beat scene is A Sufi and a Killer, Gonjasufi’s 2010 psychedelic masterstroke. Gonja, likely noticing a drought of screechy sepia-tinged moaning, posted “Bury Me” on MySpace. Listen at your own risk. This track is fucking haunted.

Our favorite whiteboy Mark Ronson is still on his wild Australian vacation with his band and they stopped by triple j (Aussie radio) to perform “Somebody to Love Me” from Record Collection and then cover “Solitude is Bliss” by Tame Impala. Rose Elinor Dougall, who appeared on three songs on Record Collection, sounds great singing psych rock. Watch the original after the break.

Not as magical as Skream’s remix of La Roux, but still great. Those drums are extremely satisfying.

Yeah, you read that title right, ML had to cut the procrastination & curb the lallygagging, and to finally go to the madness that is SXSW. About the title, it does say Hip-Hopish, but we touche the whole spectrum in our picks.

If you read this blawg, chances are you subscribe to some of our music tastes, so here are some of our picks from the official showcases (note: we didn’t pick things that would jam up your whole schedule or overlap, because a big part of SXSW is finding and discovering new music on your own…and having enough time to stuff your face with bbq (but…salad for us, please)).

Train! Fight! Die?!

DJA and Dirty South Joe have distilled the essence of motivation and physical and mental exertion into musical form. The product of their labor is Heaven 2 Hell, their second 80s action soundtrack mix. As with any action sequel, the stakes are higher and the danger level has doubled (maybe even tripled). Put this on and get inspired.

Watch two motion capture silhouettes representing good and evil dance-fight in the video for “Ariel” by Stateless.

The song is based on a gypsy guitar sample provided by DJ Shadow. The album Matilda comes out February 7.

Today marks the kickoff of the Voodoo Experience in the heart of New Orleans. ML is taking this year off, but we have had documented an amazing time in years past.  Even though we aren’t going it doesn’t mean we can’t recommend some acts, amiright?! Ticket’s are still available, trust me this will be wayyy better than Halloween house party.
