Yeah, you read that title right, ML had to cut the procrastination & curb the lallygagging, and to finally go to the madness that is SXSW. About the title, it does say Hip-Hopish, but we touche the whole spectrum in our picks.

If you read this blawg, chances are you subscribe to some of our music tastes, so here are some of our picks from the official showcases (note: we didn’t pick things that would jam up your whole schedule or overlap, because a big part of SXSW is finding and discovering new music on your own…and having enough time to stuff your face with bbq (but…salad for us, please)).

If the following 2 things occur: I am not passed out somewhere, and I have wifi, I will try to have daily updates on the blog. Regardless, be sure to check the twitter, @metallungies where we will have rants, pictures, and deep thoughts about our time at SXSW. Look for a grand ol’ recap next week…or something.

Train! Fight! Die?!

DJA and Dirty South Joe have distilled the essence of motivation and physical and mental exertion into musical form. The product of their labor is Heaven 2 Hell, their second 80s action soundtrack mix. As with any action sequel, the stakes are higher and the danger level has doubled (maybe even tripled). Put this on and get inspired.

Find the track list after the break and don’t forget about part one. Keep it locked for Blood Bros 3!

Today marks the kickoff of the Voodoo Experience in the heart of New Orleans. ML is taking this year off, but we have had documented an amazing time in years past. Even though we aren’t going it doesn’t mean we can’t recommend some acts, amiright?! Ticket’s are still available, trust me this will be wayyy better than Halloween house party.

Here are some picks from ML (but don’t forget that discovering new artists is a clutch aspect of any music festival):

Muse; Ozzy Osbourne (that guy from MTV!!); MGMT (be sure to see mostly KIDS, if they do it lawls); Drake (Please report on his knee.);Metric; Hot Chip (sleeper pick of the festival!); Deadmau5 (biggest buzz on the festival scene this year?; Street Sweeper Social Club (Tom Morello+Boots Riley from The Coup=Win.); Paul Oakenfold; Florence and the Machine; Raphael Saadiq; Janelle Monae (one the best live acts of the year); Afrojack; Kelis; the Crystal Method; Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue; Crookers; Preservation Hall Jazz Band; Boys Noize.
