DJ Rob A enlists MF Doom and Aarophat for this sympathetic Doom-produced cut about domestic violence off Rob’s upcoming album The New Mortal Sin. Dope, but I still prefer RZA’s “Domestic Violence.”
If you ever wondered what our approach is to that the debilitating time-waster twitter was.. this jam by Andy Milonakis sums it up well:
As some related Andy Milonakis bonus content, I was floored by this powerful video with Riff Raff (The real star of From G’s to Gents Season 2, sorry Mr. Bentley!), Andy, and Simon Rex (of 90’s MTV fame, afternoon MTV video countdowns were the ISH!). Just watch. For your safety, please be seated.
Is 4.20 the new “in” day to flood the internets with dope music (as if on other days there weren’t floods of music already, ha)? Anyway, Diplo compadre Major Lazer hooks up with Santogold Santigold for this track which Lazer aptly describes as something “like a surf rock ragga thingamajig, zeen!’”. Check it out:
This video was recorded before 4.20. What is Ev going to do on 4.20 to top that? hop out of a plane after taking a hit? followed by a cartwheel??
Regardless, that head stand was a well earned break for Evidence, after recently releasing some heat over Exile’s Frequency beat (Exile can be seen in the aforementioned video dishing out “Yoga” tips, and acting as a spotter for Ev in his attempt) :
Albe Back’s club banger with Fabolous Mira Mira was stuck in my noggin for a few days a couple of weeks back, and made me eager to hear more from the dude. That eagerness was met tonight by Albe teaming up with Mick Boogie to drop a mixtape Hi. as his introduction to the world. For those of you not in the know, it turns out Albe produced & wrote Goodnight for Kanye (which explains why it pops up on this mixtape with a verse from him added on, (thanks The Realest)).
I got this in the e-mail box tonight (which is spiraling out of control with every passing day), it’s a collection of beats Focus made for Dr. Dre’s Detox album, which aren’t going to be used on Detox. If you are an instrumental fiend chances are you going to enjoy this.
Skip 55 minutes in to hear Statik play an unfinished version of his new single featuring Styles P and Talib Kweli. Right after that at 58:55, he shouts out Metal Lungies! That’s almost as cool as the song Ghostface made about us.
One of my favourite unreleased Dilla beats gets an insane Black Thought verse laid over it. This track will appear on the upcoming Jay Stay Paid, a collection of unreleased J Dilla tracks and beats, executive produced and mixed by Pete Rock.
