Flying Lotus + Blu = Flu. Underground Cali’s premier MC and producer team up for some other other shit. Blu spits crazy as always and the beat is hectic. It’s way over-produced, but in a good way. I’m looking forward to the album these two are working on together. (I was going to make a joke about ‘catching the flu’ but I reconsidered. Looks like I did it anyway.)
On Sunday, a rumor surfaced that Bishop Lamont had been dropped from Aftermath Records. The rumor was debunked by Bishop himself hours later, only to be “confirmed” once again today by a snippy little post on RapRadar. At this point, I don’t know what to believe. ML is waiting for an official comment from a weed carrier with ties to the label. Regardless, news is boring. Here’s the untagged version of Bishop’s track with Hi-Tek which I believe first appeared on the recent Loud.com mixtape.
You are probably wondering who these dudes are, as chances you are like me and you haven’t heard of this Philly group before, but if you don’t listen to this, you lose. This isn’t a Jim Jones jack move, they remix/sample the og monster MGMT track to impressive results.
We’ve been slacking on posting the P TwittyTV episodes (shit is already on 25?!), but letting this one slide would be criminal.
The Jadakiss laugh NEVER gets old, we can listen to it on loop for days. LOL at Sheek not having a twitter to shout out. You KNOW he’s getting one by the end of the week, so keep your eyes peeled internets.
Catch up on all of the ones we didn’t post over at youtube. The Last Kiss is in stores tomorrow.
Blu flows over “Love Line” off Exile’s instrumental album Radio. If you heard anything off Blu’s HerFavoriteColor mixtape, you’ll have a feel for the vibe off this one: effortless, rambling rhymes, a mellow, jazz-tinged beat.
Exile mentioned in an interview a few months back that Blu had been recording versions of several Radio tracks, so perhaps we can look forward to a mixtape of some sort.
I remember seeing this during the summer of 2006, but never thought to post it. But with our recent Wale X Ovechkin adventure, it’s pretty damn appropriate. Tell me this video isn’t classic, I dare you.
As a bonus, after the jump check out the Eastern Motors commercial starring Oveckhin that has the internets going nuts *no paul wall*.
Earlier today DJ Vlad had some odd voiceover video claiming Bishop got dropped from Aftermath (I’m not linking to that shit, I have a hard time supporting sites that rip stuff without giving credit). Bishop shoots back his own video and refutes being dropped, promotes a Duck Tales DVD, plays some new music, and answers a bunch of questions. He mentions a track with Warren G and Nate Dogg on the hook, if you were watching Warren G’s ustream tonight, that might have been it (he only had Nate Dogg’s hook looping). PS: A “journalist” would at least attempt to contact the subject in question or state they were not availble for comment, I’m just sayin.
