Laws – Hold You Down (produced by DJ Khalil).
The name Laws may not mean anything to you, but hip-hop bloggers will recognize the name from the 20 emails the Tampa-based rapper sends every day. A day rarely goes by without a reminder that Laws is in the studio, or that he has a song on the radio, or that he has a mixtape dropping in two weeks, or that he just ate a pastrami sandwich. Some might call this perseverance, but spamming someone’s inbox with worthless content is more likely to get you ignored than noticed.
Ironically, Laws didn’t even email me the song that finally got me to listen to him. I found this on Nah Right and only listened to it because it’s produced by DJ Khalil. Maybe Khalil gave Laws a beat so he would stop emailing him.
I thought to myself, Am I really going to post this shit? It’s a great song, but I run the risk of getting twice as many Laws emails in the future. Such is the hip-hop blogger’s dilemma.
But at the end of the day, DJ Khalil’s beat banged too hard. Laws, you win.
