I’ve long since abandoned familiarizing myself with the daunting Living Legends catalog, but this track has piqued my interest in the latest project from the crew. Underground West Coast veterans The Grouch & Eligh team up with newcomer Blu for a song that matches impressive lyricism with an eerie beat. This track also might be a hint of what Blu and Flying Lotus’ upcoming collaborative project might sound like.
Somehow, I didn’t notice this gem when I listened to Skyzoo’s latest mixtape. Skyzoo, Talib Kweli and Reks are all hit or miss with me, but this track has them all at their best (particularly Reks who steals the show with his verse) over a Statik Selektah beat that’s been stuck in my head for the past few days. The mark of a great producer is brining out the best in an artist. All praises due to Statik for doing that three times on one track.
I seldom post videos on ML, cause there are so few that really catch my eye these days like this one did. I held out for the HD/Vimeo version to come out before posting it on ML, no way was I going to do a video of this caliber some injustice and post some bootleg recording from a BET broadcast. My homie the Audible Doctor just blessed me with this remix to last year’s “Undeniable.” I have to say I prefer this version for the ghostly vocal sample that loops throughout. It’s much more memorable than the original. Major props to the Audible Doctor!

When I heard this on the Fresh Selects podcast, I sent Magestik a hysterical text demanding he send it to me. The three Detroit rappers link up with French producer Dela for some madness.
