Common and Funny or Die make light of the financial crisis with a little blaxploitation jive. So funny, I almost forgive him for his last album. Almost.

“Hold Up” is the B-side to the 12” for Double Barrel’s title track. When I told Marco this sample sounded familiar, he grabbed me by my ankles and hurled me out the window of his fifth floor apartment. Check back later today for an in-depth feature on everyone’s favorite Italian-Canadian chain smoker.
Watch the excellent Double Barrel Training videos after the jump, the first of which has Torae and Marco assuming the roles of Little Mac and Doc Louis. Oh yeah, the new Punch-Out!! is supposed to be sick.
Sphere: Related ContentI was talking to Knobbz about Mike Tyson’s cameo in The Hangover, and his OG movie cameo in Black & White came up. Black & White is one of the most slept on movies ever, the Mike Tyson & Wu-Tang roles certify it as a cult classic. However, I never understood about why in the world Allan Houston was cast. If you haven’t seen it, check these clips:
Mike Tyson meets Robert Downey Jr.’s character with Brooke Shields & Wu in the background:
Bonus: Mike Tyson meets Raekwon & Inspectah Deck’s characters:
I’m really only posting this because it gives me a chance to rant how much I hate subway. Subway has to be the most overrated sub shop in the universe. Ugh. Plus the smell inside of them?? Starvation is better, ask a homeless person. I don’t get how the video on this is pretty polished but then the audio sounds like it was recorded on a cell phone?

U.K. emcee Mystro interviews Devin the Dude, who demonstrates his impressive rolling skills. Just Tryin’ Ta Live is also easily one of the best albums of this decade and is criminally overlooked – it’s a good place to start if you’re not familiar with his music. The first part is below, part two after the jump.

Damn, I need to start watching Dancing with the Stars. Raphael Saadiq opened the show with a killer performance complete with energetic back up singers and dancers. Saadiq has excellent showmanship. Have you ever seen a rapper give that kind of performance?

I met Von Pea, Illyas and Donwill yesterday at Fat Beats and I can safely conclude that Tanya Morgan are the coolest guys in rap. And I’m not just saying that because they’re avid Metal Lungies readers (which they are). Right here is perhaps my favorite song off Brooklynati, the Aeon-produced “She’s Gone.”

And the Tanya Morgan love doesn’t stop there. Here’s a video of their performance at Fat Beats yesterday courtesy of my homie DJ Sav One.
Sphere: Related ContentIt seems that worthwhile clips from Jimmy Fallon’s show tend to involve The Legendary Roots Crew. This rendition of the now classic SNL short is notable for a few reasons, Black Thought fills in for T-Pain, and The Roots are decked out (no pun, I swear) in nautical gear, and lastly the OD censor beeps are sick.
Sphere: Related ContentJadakiss was so taken by Nore’s gesture that he set aside 45 minutes to figure out how to buy CNN’s latest album Channel 10 on iTunes. Jada doesn’t put on as much of a show as Nore, nor does he have as much difficulty, but he still hits a few snags along the way. At 3:10, there’s a great shot of a confused ‘Kiss scratching his head. ‘Kiss finally makes the purchase at 3:55 and makes a noise that I’ve never heard from him before. I hope this becomes an ongoing series and I hope Jada and Nore enjoyed each other’s albums more than I did.
