Seems to me like Rashid Hadee is one of the better producers out of Chicago right now (that other really famous one just put out an album that was kind of crap). I posted his mixtape back in May, but I think he really shines as a producer. He’s on some slick sample-based production that you should definitely check out. Here’s his new track with Melatone and a bunch of other tracks he’s produced or rapped on.

You gotta stop sleeping on Exile. His project with Blu, Below the Heavens, is an underground west coast classic and he’s got albums coming with Fashawn, Blame One and maybe the homie Shawn Jackson. But this song is off his solo album Radio, on which he challenged himself to only sample sounds from local LA radio stations. The result is a soulful beat spattered with static and talk radio samples. This version has vocals by singer Muhsinah. Exile’s sample choppage is very Dilla-esque, if I may say so myself.

SOHH is reporting that Consequence’s next album “You Win Some, You Lose Some” is actually coming out. Apparently dude signed with Columbia because Sony/BMG wasn’t really a great situation for him. Its being executive produced by Kanye and Q-Tip, and the projected release date is around Summer 09. They don’t have a tracklist for this yet, but I am eager to see one. I really enjoyed Cons’ first album, and with the addition of Q-Tip to the team this looks to be a classic.
