Fierce. This is intended as an apology for him spitting an old verse on the recent Slaughterhouse freestyle on Green Lantern’s. The Revival EP drops July 7.
Here is a nice supplement to our dope Wale interview that dropped today. DJ Benzi & Willy Joy give us a dope electronic flip of Wale’s first single Chillin.
I know you wanna take this on the go or play it in the club so here is the mp3 (coming shortly):
An Organized Konfusion reunion! Praise the Lord. Nothing revelatory here, but it’s nice to hear Po & Pharaohe together. This is off Prince Po’s new EP, The X-Files.
Ok, I love random videos like this that capture rappers in their natural element, not really “acting” for the camera. Watch Raekwon get a delicious sandwich at some bodega at 4am.. which he insists on getting hot, cause he’s hot! When not focused on his 4am feast, Rae drops the best economic slogan from any rapper yet; “we ain’t hurting we just flirting”! He also talks about some recently divorced guy named Nas, maybe appearing on his album. Bonus: be sure to vibe out to ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ blaring in the background!
The video also reminded me of a classic Rae photo, dude <3’s bodegas!
You’ve already learnt about cooking from Jazze Pha and Coolio. What’s the next logical step? Cooking with Christopher Walken, ‘natch. Here Frank White shows you how to make a baked whole chicken with caramelized pears.
So many quotables here ,and like Guru said, it’s most his voice and delivery that makes them creepy:
“It’s kinda like the Eiffel Tower”
“I love this chicken neck, it’s great.”
“These pears…they look very nice”
“They get like little cookies…very tasty. I save them.”
I was recently hipped to Panacea producer K-Murdock’s blog Neosonic Productions by an ML reader. Murdock, besides being a dope producer, also does a monthly mix of instrumentals on his radio show, SubSoNiQ Instru-mentals. Here’s the latest episode, with beats by DJ Spinna, Flying Lotus, Madlib, J Dilla and more. The instrumental selection is choice and the mixing is nice, making this mix perfect for mellowing out during the last few hours of sun. Vibe to this.
Naledge of Kidz in the Hall is emptying his vault of solo material with his upcoming mixtape Chicago Picasso. For this remix (original here), he brings out Bun B and Curren$y, both of whom flow perfectly over the distinctly southern beat. I wish there were more beats like this on Curren$y’s album. Chicago Picasso drops June 30.
We already shared a track off this album last week, so here’s another one with a similarly excellent line-up. “Ill Figures” is pretty low-key considering the line-up and the M.O.P. verses aren’t nearly long enough, but this is still dope. Rae has been killing every verse he’s touched lately. I’m digging the live backing track too. Chamber Music drops on June 30th.
