You have to respect when an artist can perfectly articulate his aesthetic like Dabeull does with “Glitter Fonk.”

I started checking for French funk artist Dabeull after catching him on one of XL Middleton and DSR Chris’ Blvd Knights mixes this year and now he he hits us with a luxurious cover of the Rah Band classic.

Episode 140 of the Dream Chimney podcast features Niall Kirk of La Casa Tropical spinning, in his words, “afrobeat, vintage synth funk and lofi psych disco.” A SoundCloud commenter also identifies K. Frimpong & His Cubano Fiestas.

La Casa Tropical is, per Facebook, a “cultural performance and events space.”

Ever since he did “Sexual Eruption” in 2007, Snoop Dogg’s best music has lain outside of hip-hop. New joints with Charlie Wilson and Dam-Funk are further proof.

Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One’s anonymous funk project returns in a more official capacity for an album on Stones Throw. “Number One” reverse engineers “Ain’t No Fun” into the funk sample that never was.

We’ve been waiting on pins and needles for a new track from Beat Drop alum Chromeo since they teased us back in November with Sexy Socialite and, duh, they’re starting 2014 out strong by teaming up with another one of our favorites: Toro Y Moi. Come Alive stays true to Chromeo’s funk roots with Chaz Bundick’s vocals adding an extra layer of awesome. Can they just team up and create a super band already?

Chromeo has mentioned that on the forthcoming White Women there will be appearances from Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, LCD Soundsystem’s Pat Mahoney, and Solange Knowles. Needless to say… we’re excited.

Duck Sauce (we’re talking A-Trak and Armand Van Helden… although the condiment is maybe equally as awesome) is preparing for the release of their forthcoming album Quack, due out early next year, with a 2 hour essential mix on BBC Radio1. BBC Radio1 is known for their solid mixes (as seen in the past when we’ve mentioned Jamie XX ) and this one delivers just as solidly as we’d hoped.
