As someone that had a suitcase and plastic sleeves stuffed with cards from my elementary school days (damn, how much money did I waste on that shit??) I can relate and laugh at this. This also got me thinking, there needs to be more hip hop related photoshop stuff NOW. LL as Honus Wagner *DEAD*.
Somehow we’ve slipped on The Real yet again (forgive us father!), so check out the previous gems in case you may have missed them after the break.
You know what ML and Jim Jones share in common? When we twitter, we both smile like little kids on Christmas (even when jail is involved, it takes a lot more to turn the ol’ smile upside down). After watching this news clip, we are almost tempted to start following Jim Jones, but keeping up with the stuff we already follow is a full time job as it is, but if @iamdiddy turns out to be a fake or something, you’re next Jim! By the way, that reporter would make for a nice cameo in a upcoming Jim Jones video.
More hip hop twitter related shit coming soon.. perhaps even tomorrow.
You know what doesn’t suck? Good Hip-Hop band acts. A prime example is NYC based Dujeous. I came across these dudes recently (late pass please) when Full Clip posted a Dujeous track with the mega funky Menahan Street Band. I like what I heard, and after some digging I found out they had just put out a mixtape called No Clearance with the aforementioned track and a gang full of other goodies sampling everything from The Shins, Steve Miller Band to The Budos Band (explaining the title of the mixtape).
OK, I’m not gonna lie. I was waiting for NORE to jump on this track so I could justify posting it. Raps the Superthug,
She hit me on Twitter and I gave her my email Told her that my love come free, just like Gmail
I’ve been secretly banging this track ever since it came out. It reminds me of “Peaches and Cream” and “Dance with Me.” There was nothing better than when “Peaches” came on in 2001 and got you feeling yourself enough to ask that cutie at your friend’s bar-mitzvah to dance. Ah, seventh grade romance.
The Cookie Monster puts Jay-Z to shame with these epic bars. Poppin’ wheelies on the scooter is just icing on the cake. Lots of talent down thurr on Sesame Street.
You know we stay on that videogame rap. This is a genius mixtape which blends hip hop a capellas with beats sampled from the soundtrack of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. The beats are by the excellently named Team Teamwork. Some of my favourite remixes are Edan’s “Fumbling Over Words That Rhyme”, the Clipse’s “Virginia”, and Aesop Rock’s “No Jumpercables”. Granted, a few of the remixes don’t really work, but it’s still worth your time.
Untagged version of Nas’ track off the Tyson soundtrack. I can see a high school football team blasting this in the locker room before a game on some “Eye of the Tiger” type shit.
Finally (a lot) more material from Chester French is starting to surface, as they set to release their debut, Love The Future later this month. First up is Jacques Jams. The Clinton Sparks helmed mixtape which has to be the most twitterized mixtape to date that I’ve seen, so it definitely succeeded on the marketing aspect. Listen to see if stacks up the hype!
