Royce Da 5’9″ – Part of Me, Video.
Royce narrates a cautionary tale in this video directed by Rik Cordero. Featuring cameos by Joe Budden & Joell Ortiz. Very well done.

This is awesome, I wish more male acapella groups did hip hop bangers instead of love ballads. The Kanye verse> Jeezys verse in this rendition. Also, is it mandatory that any legit University have an acapella group on campus? Buffalo Chips what up?!
(ScottieL edit) UMD Faux Paz gets dowwwn.
When arrows don’t penetrate…

“Happy Valentine’s Day!”
If those three words evoke thoughts of joy, happiness, and doughy-eyed dreams about the one you love, then you’ll probably want to stop reading this post now and head over to Souled On, where I contributed an installment to the homie Scholar’s “Love Lockdown” series, highlighting my five favorite love songs of all time. Each of my picks was intended to spotlight a stage of “love”…
… which leads me into this, the antithesis of that post — five songs spotlighting different stages of “hate”, for the rest of y’all who liken those three magic words to rusty nails on a chalkboard, who are angry because you’re alone, or angry because others are not alone, or angry because your heart has been broken, or some combination of these. Yes, my friends, they make music for you, too. Much darker music…

Dope 2 min ditty, kinda makes you wish it was longer. Off the upcoming Back 2 Basics mixtape. Via Kanye’s Blog.
Edit: Damn it, I knew it was a familiar beat, it’s not Ryan Leslie (wtf?).. it’s an LCD Soundsystem song called Someone Great. (Thanks to PMA)

I’ve been banging the Focus…-produced Marsha Ambrosius mixtape Yours Truly since it came out, so I had to bring it back for the untagged version. Mixtape DJs get a lot of hate around these parts, but is it possible that this tape is a little less exciting without Don Cannon’s well-placed gunshots and yelling? Or is it just the lack of mixing? Overall, the mixtape has a less aggressive vibe, which is a good thing on songs like “I Lost You” and a bad thing on songs like “Murdah.”

We quickly mentioned Part 1 the other day, here is part 2. Most amusing part: Juelz was doing the Sizzurp (not even the liquor!) heavy. 100 Hawaiian Punches mixed on deck?!? I guess their shared loved for the ‘Tussin is why Juelz and Wayne were/are so close.
Also, here is some behind the scenes footage of that movie that ML can’t live with out that was unleashed today as well, not a day year(s) late or anything. Cristal in a water bottle? Check! Balancing water cups on the behinds of Classy ladies? CHECK!!! Random Dip-set goons giddy about their straight to DVD acting debuts? YOU ALREADY KNOW.

The Score remains one of my all-time favorite albums. Here’s John Forte, Wyclef and Pras rhyming for an amazing 20 minutes for Funkmaster Flex in 1997. Last year, then-president George Bush commuted John Forte’s 14 year jail sentence. Moral of the story? Make friends with Carly Simon.
