Jabari’s roundtable with 9th Wonder, Young Guru, Young Chris & Neef, Pt. 2.

Part 2 of of the interesting roundtable. This part mainly is focused about the “hipster” movement and hip hop. 9th Wonder is a pretty smart dude, we co-sign his whole piece.

RZA Wants to Record the Next Wu-Tang Album Naked.

And he wants everyone else to be naked too:

So far we haven’t recorded anything, but conversations have been coming up though. That’s pretty interesting to hear the conversations come up about maybe us going in and doing one more fuckin’ killer album, but this time just have everybody take they shirt off—even me, take my shirt off from the door. So instead of coming in with your ideas and this and that, everybody just come in naked and build it from there. I think that’s something that we never actually ever did. Usually I had all the ideas or something or some brothers had predetermined ideas, but I think now, it’s like everybody in the crew is a master at what they do. And so we all got to accept that, even me, that as the Abbot I gotta accept that. If we take that approach, I’m pretty sure we would come with something very, very unique. I don’t know if that’s gonna happen, but there are conversations.

OK, RZA doesn’t actually want to get naked with Raekwon and U-God, but it was still a shock to read “but this time just have everybody take they shirt off.” Maybe I’m being naive, but I think the Wu is still capable of putting together a great album. 8 Diagrams didn’t live up to the hype, but it definitely had its moments.

50 Cent – Shut Ur Bloodclot Mouth (Produced by DJ Premier).

Nice to see 50 doing something Jay-Z/Nas can’t seem to pull off. Based on what Premier said a month back, I wonder who approached who? Check the ad-lib growls throughout.

Edit: Uhoh.. Statik Says:

FYI that 50 / Premo shit that dropped today aint real 🙁

As a bonus, I also caught this amusing interview on a Conan re-run back from September from when 50 was promoting his Pacino/DeNiro movie, Righteous Kill. Hate or love his music, dude is definitely an interesting interview with a personality.

Easy Mo Bee Speaks on Getting Snubbed by Puff.

Easy Mo Bee, producer of “Flava in Ya Ear,” “Party and Bullshit,” “Gimme the Loot,” “Machine Gun Funk” and “Going Back to Cali,” describes being excluded from Notorious and Diddy’s shadiness. Like so many other hip-hop greats, Easy Mo Bee does not get his due respect. Says Easy,

I don’t know if there’s some animosity or something. I can’t get in that man’s mind. Is it because a long time ago, when “Flava in Ya Ear” Remix came out, I looked on the record and saw “Remix by Sean Puffy Combs, Chucky Thompson and Easy Mo Bee.” I took the record up in the office and I presented it to him and I said, “Yo, what’s this?” He didn’t know what to say. I told him, “You didn’t do it. Chucky sat there and watched. So I just want to know why the credits read like that.” I think it might have been that. Because ever since that, I haven’t really worked over there.

Notorious keeps sounding worse and worse. The last ad I saw for it called it “the biggest movie event of our time.” It’s going to be a long time before Hollywood makes a decent hip-hop biopic. Just imagine a proper Wu-Tang movie.

Nore on Juan Epstein, Interview.

Nore has to be on of the, if not the best interview subjects in hip-hop. He provided me with one of my favorite print interviews of all time a few years back (which if you haven’t read, drop everything.. read.now.). Recently, Nore was on Juan Epstein, and he dropped amazing insights and anecdotes about everything from his depression (?!!?), Big Pun and how different “beef” is today. Listen to this in it’s entirety.

Hex Murda Gives a Memorable Interview.

Don’t know who Hex Murda is? Neither do I, to be honest. But I saw Joe Scudda tweeting something about ice cream and then I saw this. All I can gather from Hex’s MySpace, which has a great URL might I add, is that he’s from Detroit, he has something to do with Black Milk and the Almighty Dreadnaughtz, and he “[doesn’t] give a fuck.” He was recently interviewed by Sweeney Kovar over at Classic Drug References and the man is chock full of quotables. Here are some of my favorites.

On ice cream:

It’s like, bitch, I like chocolate ice cream and you don’t like chocolate ice cream, don’t make me not like chocolate ice cream. Bitch, stick to vanilla.

On Internet haters:

I done caught niggas on the Internet, no bullshit, I’m famous for that. I’ve caught niggas on the Internet, I’ve caught three niggas. Got their IPS addresses, holla’d at my people, nigga got the reverse directory, found these niggas like, ‘whassup nigga, talking shit on the net?’

On rappers:

Niggas be rapping crazy like rappity rap rap the rap rap shit

On not giving a fuck about shit:

I don’t give a fuck about shit.

On Tronic:

That nigga Black be like, boom, boom, beep, beep, ‘Hex I gotta beat. Imma go fuck these bitches.’

On bitches:

Anybody that ain’t me is a bitch.

Make sure to read the whole interview. Black Milk makes a cameo appearance and talks about his next album. As far as Hex goes, his top five albums for ’08 is legit, so he’s OK in my book.
