After all that, I have to ask. Why is Styles P sleeping on a bench? Thats not hard. Thats homeless.
A little something from Stones Throw to warm your hearth in this cold season. Badd Santa is a dope compilation of really bizarre and great Christmas (and a little Kwanzaa) music, from reggae to Miami bass.
Here’s a sweet little promo ST made for the album.
You can check it out here. There’s a nice mix of the Badd Santa songs available through the Stones Throw Podcast too, mixed by label head Peanut Butter Wolf.
For all my fellow Heebs celebrating the last night of Channukah tonight: Fatlace Magazine hipped me to Shady Records head Paul Rosenberg’s annual Hannukah Radio show on Shade 45 on Sirius Satellite Radio, with special guests DJ AM, actor Jonah Hill (Superbad kicks ass) & Marky Ramone of the Ramones! Takes a while to load but it’s worth it.
The upcoming release of 8 Diagrams has got ML geeked and we’re just looking for excuses to post about the Wu. There’s already Buhizzle’s Countdown posts, each highlighting a different group member (he’s done U-God & Raekwon thus far). But I just wanted to share this crazy news, via Wooohah!:
“Sanford Greene, current artist for the DC Comic “Wonder Girl” and the artist of MF Doom’s “Venemous Villain” cover art is now working on a Wu-Tang Clan graphic novel with the help of Method Man.”
Sounds awesome, if a little crazy. There was actually a Wu comic before this called “Nine Rings of Wu-Tang” but I don’t know much about it other than it’s an origin story of the group. To me it seems a bit like the Public Enemy comic where it’s coming at the worst possible time for the group. But this does sound interesting and Meth’s involvement is promising, as he’s apparently a big comics fan.
Click here to see some of Greene’s early concept art.
Just a heads up for you slackers watching TV at 3:30pm on a weekday.. Lupe will be on TRL later today. Keyisha Cole will be performing as well. Word on the street is, later in the week they’ll be showing the new Snoop Dogg video for Sensual Seduction & having One Republic perform. More info about Spankin New Lyrics Week here.
Great online hip hop shop Underground Hip Hop has an excellent video section divided into new music videos, interviews and live performances. What I’m want to point ML readers to today is the Old School Videos section on Underground Hip Hop.com, which has loads of classic vids ranging from A Tribe Called Quest to Just-Ice. While the selection is pretty small at the moment and I’m sure you can find some of these elsewhere, no other site has them in such pristine quality (especially the older clips.)
Unless you were one of the few lucky ones like Tom to check out the show, MSN has the next best thing. They are streaming the full concert over here.
In the meanwhile don’t forget to enter the Wild Style contest so you have something to be thankful for (outside of AM joining the greatest internets team ever, we the Spurs/Senators (Canadia we see you!) of this shit).
We like Mario, in fact he is probably ML’s favorite R&B male singer over Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, etc. (those songs with Jadakiss don’t hurt!). To our surprise life isn’t all gravy for Mario, MTV has a documentary airing this Sunday, October 21st at 10pm about his struggles dealing with his mom’s addiction to heroin. Now that’s some real shit that a lot of people in the limelight wouldn’t talk about, so props to him for sharing his story, hopefully his mom stays clean.
I just listened to this today. Its a new track by JoJo Pellegrino. And its produced by…… Marco Polo!! The verses are pure NYC crime rap, and the production is superb. The way MP cuts up the vocal sample from Gravediggaz on this… awesome.
I had heard some stuff from JoJo before but not much after the Violator album. But, judging by his new shit, his solo looks to be a killer. Look for that.
