Here is a nice supplement to our dope Wale interview that dropped today. DJ Benzi & Willy Joy give us a dope electronic flip of Wale’s first single Chillin.
I know you wanna take this on the go or play it in the club so here is the mp3 (coming shortly):
Ok, I love random videos like this that capture rappers in their natural element, not really “acting” for the camera. Watch Raekwon get a delicious sandwich at some bodega at 4am.. which he insists on getting hot, cause he’s hot! When not focused on his 4am feast, Rae drops the best economic slogan from any rapper yet; “we ain’t hurting we just flirting”! He also talks about some recently divorced guy named Nas, maybe appearing on his album. Bonus: be sure to vibe out to ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ blaring in the background!
The video also reminded me of a classic Rae photo, dude <3’s bodegas!
You’ve already learnt about cooking from Jazze Pha and Coolio. What’s the next logical step? Cooking with Christopher Walken, ‘natch. Here Frank White shows you how to make a baked whole chicken with caramelized pears.
So many quotables here ,and like Guru said, it’s most his voice and delivery that makes them creepy:
“It’s kinda like the Eiffel Tower”
“I love this chicken neck, it’s great.”
“These pears…they look very nice”
“They get like little cookies…very tasty. I save them.”
Stones Throw’s latest signee through new imprint Good Time Records.
Folerio is the first signing to PB Wolf’s new label Good Time Records. Wolf tried to sign him to Stones Throw, but he declined, saying "Folerio is for the people and Stones Throw is not for the people."
Produced by Blunt. Free=only rapper who still sounds good over chipmunk soul beats. Has anyone heard Philadelphia Freeway 2 and if so, what do you think? I skimmed through a stream of it a few weeks back, but it didn’t make much of an impression on me.
In other news, I’m excited about this upcoming Jake One/Freeway record, Stimulus Package? Here’s a brief interview with Jake and Free where they discuss it. I’ve got high hopes for this album.
While you maybe lucky enough to be at The Roots picnic in Philly watching Santigold (the artist formerly known as Santogold) live (I see you Dom & Ben), I am not and instead I have to get by with the following two items to keep me entertained:
First, here is crazy footage from when Santi was performing Unstoppable live at this years Sasquatch Festival, an impromptu dance party started by one dude grows exponentially as the song goes on.
Next Terry Urban put out a mixtape remixing a lot of Santi’s song with a bunch of popular rap songs, before it was out there was some controversy between lawyers, record labels and what not, but in the end Nah Right got their hands on it. If you slept on the Diplo X Santigold mixtape from last year, pleasedl that as well (to be honest it’s probably my favorite Santi related work).

My other passion in life is video games. E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Expo) takes place this week in Los Angeles which means video game companies are making major announcements. The most fun part of game announcements (aside from actually playing said games) is the shiny new trailers. AaronM gave you a taste yesterday, but here’s the blowout. And I’m keeping it strictly Nintendo because that’s how I roll.
No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle. Game designer/auteur Suda 51’s , over the top, stylish action game. Jidaigeki meets punk rock meets miscellaneous American pop culture references. It’s OK to be a little confused.
I put the rest after the jump because it’s an assload of videos.
