This video has been blowing up the internets. Personally, I’ve watched it a few times, and when I hear the original in the club (more like in the car on the radio) I try to think of Travis’ version. I guess this what some kickass drum work and 4 2 drumsticks do to another forgettable gimmicky song. Don’t bet against this being the only time you see any Soulja Boy work mentioned on here, sorry Soulja Boy (?) fans.
With his new song Blue Magic. Like ya’ll didn’t see this one coming. I, for one, am glad he’s back. Some people liked Kingdom Come and it wasn’t a bad album, but it wasn’t a Jay album. It’s just certain emcees you expect a certain level of excellence from. Jay is one of them. Huey, Boosie, Hurricane Chris? Not so much….. I like the track. It’ll take a couple of listens and some movie preview clips to get used to it.
I don’t mean to front on the whole “event” feel of this record — I can respect the coming together of the 3 biggest money-earners in hip hop today. But, I was thinking about transitioning the overreaching hype around this record (I mean, is that supposed to be a movie poster? For a song?) into a top-10-remixes-of-all-time list, until I realized that I just can’t accept that type of authority. So, here’s 10 of my favorite remixes, of which the 50/Jay/Diddy‘s ghostwriter collabo is not included. If you don’t like Busta Rhymes, you might want to proceed with caution…
[I’m hoping not to steal HM’s thunder by posting right above him, but I felt like the longer I waited, the less relevant it would be. I mean, this remix came out 3 days ago and it already feels like old news. But anyways, be sure to check HM’s latest podcast — yet another classic mix.]
Back Again. This week’s podcast was one hell of a mix show. It was mostly request based, from our listeners both before and during the show. It turned out real well. We managed to cover a wide variety of music and still keep it pretty gully.
If any of our web listeners would like to have us play more of something, or have a specific request, or even a shameless plug, just shoot me an email.

Yeah, we kinda liked the track a lil while ago, so we had to share this. I’m always geeked to see footage of producers working with each other. Looks like Danja really is Timbo’s right hand man.
Ahh, Barrington Levy and his Jamaican Creole. Looks like Foxy can’t get enough of rapping with her Jamaican accent. Anyway, this reminds me of the mean middle school days when the homies and I would try to imitate Barrington from Shyne’s Bad Boyz cut.
