ML does another Virgin [Festival].

I know you’ve been waiting tight to see why we won’t be at the VMAs or watching em live..well now you know. We will be at the Virgin Festival in Toronto on Saturday & Sunday rocking out.

It’s still not too late to join us, hit up the Virgin Festival site for tix/info.

Feel free to send your comments about the classy entry title.

Look for our recaps somewhere around Monday, that is, if we are sobered up by that time. If your lucky you might catch a tumbleweed in the from of HM/Buhizzle rolling through here until then.

Jacob the Jeweler ices out the VMA’s.

So that’s what $200,000 (or talent recognized by MTV) can buy you from Jacob the Jeweler (you can’t keep him down, he is also debuting his own Vodka, no word if it’s liquid platinum). This is the ‘moon man’ award for this years VMAs. We might be lining up to trade in our home for one. You might’ve forgotten while drooling over that Rihanna pic that the VMA’s are this Sunday at 9pm from Las Vegas. Sadly, we won’t be in vegas nor will we be watching live (there go our chances of spotting any Janet super bowl-esque moments, which Britney may be ripe for), instead we’ll be curiously watching the joint on tivo (WWKD=What Will Kanye Do?), as to why this is, stay tuned….

Video for Public Radio-Squared Circle.

Wow, ENJOYABLE underground stuff is rolling in right now, this time from the Bay. It’s good to see that underground stuff is not alive on just the east. Nothing too fancy, but it’s simple beat with light & uplifting song lyrics.

More info on Public Radio & their album after the jump.

Killer Mike on Making It Rain.

More knowledge from Killer Mike, no joke, dude would be a good news correspondent. Sportscenter are you reading this?

DJ Jazzy Jeff Ft. Peedi Peedi-Brand New Funk 2k7.

We’ve featured a bunch of Kris Schackman/Theo Bark videos before. Theo just broke me off with their latest, Brand New Funk 2k7 (an update of sorts of the OG track Jazzy Jeff did with Fresh Prince) off of Jazzy Jeff’s The Return of the Magnificent. I’m really curious to know what Will thinks of the homage being paid to him?

For the good times.

The Diplomats’ music isn’t what it used to be, recently lacking in both quality and quantity. (Seriously, a Freeky Zekey solo album? Was anyone anticipating that?) And the fact that the whole Jim-Jones-signing-to-G-Unit rumor had been picking up steam lately — it’s been deaded by 50 Cent, so take that for what it’s worth — isn’t likely to smooth anything over between Cam’ron and Jim. With Jim Jones looking for more than a future deal with Koch from here on out, he’s clearly wise to exploit the mutual respect between he and arguably the best hit-maker in hip hop today. Besides, nowadays, if you’re not respected by 50, you’re likely to get disrespected by 50 — shit, you could stand next to him on stage and be told that you suck.

We might as well accept that the Diplomats’ future is hanging on by a thread, and just make sure that we remember the days when that wasn’t case — the dope albums they were dropping 3-4 years ago (i.e. the 1st Diplomatic Immunity, Purple Haze), their rampant self-contradicting, and the sizable dent they’ve left on YouTube. I could to refer Cam’s classic appearance on The O’Reilly Factor alongside Damon Dash, but I’m sure that’s old news to everyone. Instead, here’s some footage of the formerly-close trio of Cam, Jim (who is HEAVILY intoxicated) and Juelz Santana being driven around London by Tim Westwood (the 1st 3 minutes is radio interview stuff, freestyles that you’ve heard on retail albums and what not, the real fun starts after that):

If you’ve never seen this before, here’s 5 reasons why you should (you’ll understand after watching it):

5. “KUFI SLAPPER!”

4. “You see my bitch right here… Don’t be mad, you my BITCH!”

3. “WHAT’S THE PLAN?!? … Alright, I’mma call you back.”

2. “THEY LYING ON MEEEE!”

1. “And the bad thing about it was she thought she was DOIN’ IT! But she wasn’t DOIN’ IT!”

Donnan Linkz Ft. Baje One-The N Word.

A great conceptual story rap. It’s the story of a interracial friendship that’s effected by the n-word over a squeaky yet harmonious beat.

New Foxy Brown Ft. Grafh ‘We Don’t Surrender’.

Despite having all that legal drama, Foxy found time to drop a few bars alongside her Blackhand compadre Grafh on ‘We Don’t Surrender’. We’re feeling the horns & drums on the beat.

edit: for those of you wondering about the production it’s Doc for Boiler Room Production (B.R.P).

Ali Vegas update & album details.

Yes, the album is still coming but it’s already getting pushed back one month to February of 2008 (At this point we hope it’s only 1 month). Here are more details including who to look for on the album:

Hip Hop artist Ali Vegas is set to release his first self-titled album February 2008. As one of the most recognizable names in hip-hop Ali began is career in the late 90’s and at only 25 years old this artist is sure to break ground with his lyrical dexterity. The self proclaimed “Prince of New York” hails from Jamaica, Queens and has is often compared to hip hop greats such as Nas and Jay-Z. In 2006 Ali Vegas signed to Lamar Odom’s label, Rich Soil Entertainment where he has worked with producers ranging from J Nice to Midi Mafia.
As a seasoned vet, Vegas began rapping at age 6 and since has had a string of hits including Gangsta Boogie, The Apology, and the Specialists which was featured on the ‘In too Deep’ soundtrack. Ali’s new album will include collaborations with Nas, Omarion, Troubleman and new R & B artist Deemi. This album will present a more mature Vegas and bring hip-hop back to its lyrical days. “I am really proud of this project, through the course of this album I have grown personally and professionally my music reflects my life” says Ali.
Vegas has experienced his share of setbacks, having two unsuccessful deals with Trackmaster Entertainment under Columbia and Casablanca Records with Tommy Mottola before signing to Rich Soil Entertainment. He is more determined now than ever to live up to the hype. Vegas is outspoken, self-empowered and intelligent; he is one of hip hop’s most gifted emcees with enough content and talent to secure his position as the “Prince of New York”.
