Statik Selektah – The Thrill is Gone (ft. Styles P, Talib Kweli).

A beautiful sample, expert cuts, great verses from two New York veterans and he reps ML. “The Thrill is Gone” is the first single off Statik Selektah’s third album The Hangover, which is coming this summer. According to Statik, the album will feature Bun B, Fabolous, Raekwon, Souls of Mischief, Bahamadia and many more. Statik continues to hold NY down because no one else will.

Busta Rhymes – The Game Room (ft. Lil Fame) (produced by DJ Scratch).

How’s this for random? DJ Scratch provides a beat filled with old school arcade sounds for Busta and Lil Fame to spit their hardest rhymes. I would expect something this random from Busta, the most erratic rapper of all time, but not DJ Scratch.  The beat sounds more like something by Oh No. I wasn’t sure about this song until I heard Fame drop this bracelet:

Prominent, dominant
Been through all kinds of shit
Respect my conglomerate
I ain’t even know what that word means

Fame just jumped up a few spots on my list. Between this song and “Blow The Horns” (included below), Busta and Fame seem to be a winning combination as of late.

The Grouch & Eligh – Old Souls (ft. Blu) (produced by Flying Lotus).

I’ve long since abandoned familiarizing myself with the daunting Living Legends catalog, but this track has piqued my interest in the latest project from the crew. Underground West Coast veterans The Grouch & Eligh team up with newcomer Blu for a song that matches impressive lyricism with an eerie beat. This track also might be a hint of what Blu and Flying Lotus’ upcoming collaborative project might sound like.

Skyzoo – When I Rhyme (ft. Talib Kweli, Reks) (produced by Statik Selektah).

Somehow, I didn’t notice this gem when I listened to Skyzoo’s latest mixtape. Skyzoo, Talib Kweli and Reks are all hit or miss with me, but this track has them all at their best (particularly Reks who steals the show with his verse) over a Statik Selektah beat that’s been stuck in my head for the past few days. The mark of a great producer is brining out the best in an artist. All praises due to Statik for doing that three times on one track.

Poetry in Motion

I don’t know how many of you caught Ovechkin’s goal last night, but it was a thing of beauty. Dekes two defenders, loses control for a second, kicks the puck back to his stick and shoots it right past the goalie. This kid is the truth. Let’s go Caps!!!!

And here’s his previous top 10 for Ovechkin/hockey/sports fans. Might have to make room around two or three for last night’s goal, but I’m pretty sure number one will be cemented for a long time. Just absurd.

Kanye West Ft. Young Jeezy – Amazing, Video.

I seldom post videos on ML, cause there are so few that really catch my eye these days like this one did. I held out for the HD/Vimeo version to come out before posting it on ML, no way was I going to do a video of this caliber some injustice and post some bootleg recording from a BET broadcast. Check the lavish Hawaii landscape shot by Hype Williams for my favorite song from 808s & Heartbreak.

Philadelphia Cuddle Parties, VIDEO.

“Arousal happens”. Umm I really have no words.. please watch this and share with your families. With Craigslist killers running around, I guess this is a safer alternative. But, if you spent on $40 on this, you got ripped off I know ladies of the streets that offer a lot more for $5.  People from Philly explain your fellow cuddling fiends.

Pete Rock (on Beat Junkie Radio) & Statik Selektah with Lil Fame, Video DJ sets.

Last night the Beat Junkies had Pete Rock come through to DJ on their Beat Junkie Radio show on ustream. Most of the east coast was sleeping while Pete was going in, thankfully they were kind enough to record:

This reminded also reminded me how badly we need that Kurupt X Pete Rock project!

Statik also had another stream earlier last night, where he was joined by M.O.P’s Lil Fame (a bottle of hennessy made cameos through the night as well!)..mad exclusives were dropped, just watch! At the end they promised Lil Fame would be back on a weekly basis. Also peep Statik’s “Pimp Cup”.. ML had no idea he was stuntin like that with his beverage containers.

Between ustream and twitter, by productivity as at an all time low, thanks internets.

Crazy, crazy lineup, and everyone spits, but Serch kills it. Nice to see Kadi too.  A Konstipated Monkey is still great – if you don’t know, Robbie’s got all the info you need.
