Wanted to give you guys a little heads up on a venture I’m involved with, OG Hip Hop. The best way to describe OGHH is Hip Hop meets Drudge Report. The site will aggregate all of the top hip hop & related content on the internets so you don’t have to read 398329 blogs to keep up, instead you have it in one neat portal.  It will also offer somen original content, for example we just put together Hip Hop’s Top 10 Videos.

IT’S FINALLY HERE.

Making ML a sleek custom setup is a dream I’ve had in my crazed mind for a minute as many of you in the ML inner circle know. Today it has finally become a reality.  Boy, was it worth the wait, I still can’t believe this is ML. When HM and I started this little thing in HS, I couldn’t even fathom the idea we’d have an elite design rocking on the site. Hell, I didn’t believe anyone would even read it. Now we have interviews with
top artists, meeting all sorts of amazing industry folk.. and most importantly the most thoro/gully college aged (Buhizzle, you still count right?) writing team.  This design is just the icing on the cake, ML is not playing internets. This is the start of something as Buffalo Sabres announcer Rick Jeannerette would say “Good.. Scary Good”.

Two huge thanks have to go out to two fellas that made all of this happen. First, Niklas Rosen who believed in the site as soon as he saw it and gave ML one sexy “brand” identity, check the moo cards! Second (and equally important) GraphicDZNR aka Jesse Dodds blessed ML with a design that without doubt is in the top echelon of music blogs. The dude simply doesn’t know how to say “No”, there wasn’t a feature or design element he wasn’t able to tackle. If there is a rockstar in web stuff it’s this guy. Using either of these guys for your projects you will come out with a winning result. I know this sounds like a cheap/cheesy promo plug, but this is the truth (I’m willing to testify in court!). Don’t think our relationship with these fly design dudes is done, ML will continue to collaborate with both of them in the future many times over, you better believe it.

Now here is a brief technical overview of the Bells & Whistles ML is sporting:

*Check the easels on the right side of the header, click on each one to change the background to one of your choosing (I’m rocking the wood one right now).

*ML is formally stepping into all of this social internets business, we are represented on Last.fm, Twitter, and Facebook. Stalk the movement and meet fellow readers by clicking the ribbons on the edge of the header.

*The items in the sidebar are collapsible, just hover over them!

L’Chaim! I wish for you a hundred years of success but it’s my our time.

I’m in BK, NY after visiting Toronto for my mom’s birthday and my own. Remix Tuesdays is going to be posted late this week. I was on the road the past couple of days.

If I haven’t been posting too often lately, it’s because I’ve been really busy with exams. That picture at the top of the post shows what my posture is like now from too much studying.

So I’m going to take a break from posting for a few days and I’ll be back after the 25th, the day of my last exam. Meanwhile, the rest of the ML fam will keep it moving, keep it moving along. If there are some ML features you want to see when I get back, let me know in the comments.

Busta Rhymes (ft.Rampage & Leaders of the New School) – Keep It Movin’

Yo, my name is drew (daddyL) and I am gonna be lending a hand here at ML. I’m comin at ya right now from Montreal, but I rep my hometown, San Diego CA, for life. I am more than stoked to be a part of this already stellar team. My obsession is hip-hop, but my first love was more indie shit (The Replacements, Pavement, etc.) So I’m going to diversify my coverage as much as I can.

The nickname daddyL is a shortened version of the somewhat more degrading nickname Daddy Long Legs. I bet you can guess where that comes from (hint: I have strangely long legs). Instead of being ashamed of my deformity I have decided to embrace it, hence the pen name: daddyL

Anyways, I am really looking forward to being a part of this site. Stay tuned…

Marvin Gaye: What’s Going On

I’m Knobbz and I’m the newest addition to the ML team. My eagerness to tell anyone who will listen about the album they’ve never heard of or the song that just leaked has landed me here. I’m very glad to be here and I hope I can contribute something worthwhile to this already great site.

‘Knobbz’ is a nickname I picked up in high school that I took to more kindly than my other nickname, ‘Pussy Willow’. Yeah, you can tell I sat with the cool kids at lunch. I’m just as friendly as I look in my picture and yes, those big black caterpillars over my eyes are real.

Here’s to playing Akinyele’s Put it in Your Mouth when the girl from downstairs comes to tell me to turn my music down.

Like what you read on ML? Want to contribute to the site? We’re looking for writers who can cover the latest hip hop news; new videos, leaked tracks, album tracklistings, etc. We would prefer someone who can post daily (Monday-Friday).

If you have connections that can get you the information earlier, so much the better. We want you to post about news items that haven’t been covered extensively but are still relevant. Diverse musical tastes are cool too.

Send a sample of your writing (please don’t send us something that reads like text message, kthxbye) and a short brief about yourself (and any questions) to Dj01 [at] metallungies dot com. Please put ‘contributing to Metal Lungies’ or something similar into the subject of the e-mail. If you have never written anything, by all means give it a shot. Write a small piece about your favourite artist’s last album/song/news story.
