K-Salaam & Beatnick are a production duo and this song is the single off their upcoming album, Whose World Is This. It seems like they’re going for a kinda hip-hop/reggae fusion album.
The new album features all original and exclusive songs over Beatnick & K-Salaam’s production, from hip-hop stars such as: Trey Songz, Young Buck, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, Papoose, Outlawz, Saigon, Kardinal Offishall, & Rakaa from Dilated Peoples. As well as Reggae Legends: Buju Banton, Sizzla, Luciano, Capleton, Anthony B, and up and comers Busy Signal & Jamelody. The album also features HBO Def Poets Suheir Hammad and Black Ice, & much more.

Cannibal Ox comin back strong with this one. New track off of Vast’s upcoming LP Dueces Wild. Pete Rock’s beat is pretty uncharacteristic of him, but its a great new sound.

The 24 year old singer-songwriter living in Brooklyn (I can only imagine how many blogs have typed those very same words) is releasing his self-titled debut on July 1 with Say Hey Records. I jumped on this when I saw who Miles has been working with. His new single “Buriedfed” was recorded by Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear) and performed with Chris Bear, Daniel Rosen (Grizzly Bear) and Kyp Malone (T.V. on the Radio). Yellow House (Grizzly Bear) and Return to Cookie Mountain (TVOTR) were two of my favorite records of the last couple years, so I was sub-consciously expecting something special. And something special I received. “Buriedfed” starts out with a folksy flavor, reminiscent of Bon Iver or Elvis Perkins, and builds into a garage rock anthem driven by Robinson’s drunken voice. Check out some other tunes here.
For all my peeps in NYC Miles will be at the Mercury Lounge tonight with Howlin’ Rain.
I’ve included some you’ll-love-this-if-you-like-the-first-song-mp3’s for your listening pleasure:
Download: Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson-Buriedfed
Daniel Rosen (Home Recording): Deep Blue Sea
Bon Iver: Skinny Love

I’ve been thinking a lot about Busta Rhymes’ recent thuggish makeover since I first listened to his Dillagence mixtape a few months ago. The tape itself is great, of course; Busta’s nimble and adaptable flow makes him sound like he was born to spit over J Dilla’s beats. Lyrically one song stood out in particular, a track titled “Takin What’s Mine”. The song stood out to me not because it was especially impressive lyrically, but because of its subject matter.
