New K. Sparks featuring Jay-Z sound-a-like Angelous. He’s got some news for your ass this week:
I wanna say thanks to all of the Hip Hop websites, and blog sites that continue to show support for my music…This is a song that I recorded for a project I’m working on called The Red Tape…All of the songs on the album will be produced by Kurser…I got my family Angelous on the track and he did the damn thing…this song is essentially us just straight spittin, no auto tune, straight lyrics…Additional to the Red Tape I will also be releasing a mixtape with Angelous shortly entitled Two Worlds, once it drops I’ll make sure ya’ll get that as well.
Looking forward to both. And I fux with DJBooth.net, but how about an ML drop next time?

VH1 had a party at a swanky Times Square club called Opera for a screening of its Hip-Hop Honors show. ML was in the building taking advantage of the free pasta, mini-burgers and crabcakes (don’t worry mom, Knobbz kept it kosher). We watched the show live on a screen. The setup was less than ideal for viewing, but I was able to catch Jim Jones doing a verse of “We Ain’t Goin’ Out Like That.” As far as I could tell, there wasn’t a repeat of Fiascogate. Honorees included Cypress Hill, Slick Rick, Naughty by Nature, Too $hort, De La Soul and Isaac Hayes. And performers? They didn’t do any of their own songs, but damn. I didn’t stay late enough to see anyone famous at the after-party, but the music was so loud that I wouldn’t have even been able to tell Ghostface that it was a travesty that his scene was cut from Iron Man.

Hip-Hop Honors premieres Monday October 6th at 10/9c on VH1.

Styles’ Live in New York City is the only live hip-hop album I can listen to from beginning to end. With that said, SP is doing NY’s Jewry a major disservice by performing on Yom Kippur. I’m going to be fasting while Styles is tearing down S.O.B.’s, damn it. Gentiles, buy advance tickets here.

My apologies, EL, I promised I’d post this a week or two ago. I’m dealing with a lot of school work right now, so I’ll be scarce around these parts for a bit.
Oh, and don’t sleep on Jelani neither. (Peep his free album, Wait, You Can Rap?!?! here)
A Major Minority is still on its way, and we’ll hear a revised album release date soon hopefully.
Sphere: Related ContentPeople Under the Stairs are near and dear to my heart. Growing up in and around Long Beach meant PUTS was a requisite for any admirable party mix. In fact, I think I could write a novel entirely about the life changing moments that resulted from “Acid Raindrops.” This is part of the reason that I haven’t listened to anything but Fun DMC for the last two days. But the main reason is that it’s one of the best hip-hop albums of the year. Pay respect.

Sphere: Related ContentWhile it’s still unclear what caused the seizures, Doctors believe that Buckshot was physically drained and became severely dehydrated to the extent that caused his body to shut down and suffer 9 seizures in less than 1 day. Buckshot was in good spirits today as he left the hospital, and is looking forward to his next endeavors as he prepares to finish his group project with KRS-ONE, begin work on his third album with super-producer 9th Wonder, as well as a 4th studio album from BLACK MOON (DJ EVIL DEE and 5FT).
In a statement this morning, Buckshot said "I want to thank all the fans who called and wrote emails extending their well wishes and prayers. All the support helped me recover that much quicker."
