Tourist- Tonight, Single.

We told you all about Tourist back in April and he’s back now with a new single off of an upcoming EP that has him showing that he can mix something a little darker. Tonight builds like Placid Acid does but shows a breadth in style, I dig it.

#BEEN #TRILL X Stussy – Wet Out Here Mix.

#BEEN #TRILL is a DJ/Creative collective that is affiliated with some guy named Kanye. As a part of the launch of their clothing line collabo with cool clothing heavyweight Stussy the crew cooked up a very smooth mix with #rare edits/remixes of everything from Jamie XX to 2 Chainz. This has pretty much been on loop since Thanksgiving. My personal highlight is this Jessie Ware remix. If you know what that Are You That Somebody remix is, drop knowledge in the comments.

The Gaslamp Killer – Flange Face (ft. Miguel Atwood-Ferguson).

With “Flange Face,” producer/supervillain Gaslamp Killer owns up to his Twitter bio, which reads, “I WILL TEAR YOUR FUCKING FACE OFF”. The new album is called Breakthrough.

Darq E Freaker – Blueberry (Pills & Cocaine) (ft. Danny Brown), Video.

I like everything about this song. I like the beat. I like the video. I like Danny Brown’s missing teeth. I like the chicks. I like the proliferation of n-bombs. I like it when he says “Shake that ass for a hipster nigga.” I like the pancakes. I like the unabashed, Nancy Reagan-spiting drug abuse. I like that Danny is finding ways to top XXX. I like the XXXI tease. And I like the chicks. Likely this year’s best song so far.

Slugabed – Sex, Video.

We had a chat at HQ and we decided there weren’t enough sex videos on ML. A quick search turned up this video for Slugabed’s new single off Time Team, out May 7. I haven’t watched it yet, but I’m assuming it’s steamy. For round two, listen to Daedelus’ remix.

Tourist- Placid Acid, Single.

New Brighton based artist Tourist, or more easily Google searched as William Phillips, is someone who I’ve been meaning to write about for months now. A friend sent me a link to Placid Acid back in January and I couldn’t get enough. I sought out everything else he had recorded to tide me over until he released his first EP which dropped just a few weeks ago (and is fantastic). Luckily, he also posts remixes under the name Little Loud that are just as great to listen to. Placid Acid feels like there should be lyrics to memorize even when none are present. It’s reminiscent of Jamie XX and Animal Collective without feeling like a knock-off which is refreshing in the middle of the EDM era we’re currently in. His sound is versatile; translating anywhere from easy-listening to dance floor.

Check out Placid Acid before he gets big, I promise you won’t regret it:

Willl Youtube stream Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg from Coachella?

If I was a betting man, I’d say yes. They are probably waiting for State Farm (sponsor of the stream) to discount errr cut the check. If you look at the Schedule it says 10:35pm PT, and that is the only act that hits the stage at that time on Sunday. If you recall, something similar happened with Kanye’s mind melting perfomance at Coachella last year, which got added to the stream schedule mear hours before he hit the stage (it was TBA all weekend).  Warren G let the cat out of the bag that himself, Eminem, Daz, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa are going to join the good doctor’s set. I expect even more guests, to be honest. I also expect the Radiohead stream to be added on Saturday. Keeping all of that in mind, one other scenario that can play out is they’ll show a part of the set as ACL’s stream did with Arcade Fire’s closing set last year.

The entire stream schedule can be seen on the Coachella youtube page, which starts streaming at 3:25 PM PT today.  Also, can we talk about A$AP Rocky headlining a tent after being on the scene for like a year? Impressive.

Edit 4/15: Confirmed Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg’s set will be streaming.
