Seems to me like Rashid Hadee is one of the better producers out of Chicago right now (that other really famous one just put out an album that was kind of crap). I posted his mixtape back in May, but I think he really shines as a producer. He’s on some slick sample-based production that you should definitely check out. Here’s his new track with Melatone and a bunch of other tracks he’s produced or rapped on.

And while I’m in Chicago, here’s some new freshness from the homie Mulatto Patriot.
Correction: Mulatto sent me this track, but it was actually produced by 9th Wonder.

“Father Time” is a 1995 single by Canadian rapper Saukrates, released as a 12′ shared with Choclair’s “21 Years.” It’s considered something of a underground classic, getting spin on the Stretch and Bobbito show back in the day and chosen for the first Fat Beats Compilation.

You gotta stop sleeping on Exile. His project with Blu, Below the Heavens, is an underground west coast classic and he’s got albums coming with Fashawn, Blame One and maybe the homie Shawn Jackson. But this song is off his solo album Radio, on which he challenged himself to only sample sounds from local LA radio stations. The result is a soulful beat spattered with static and talk radio samples. This version has vocals by singer Muhsinah. Exile’s sample choppage is very Dilla-esque, if I may say so myself.

Off the best mixtape of 2008 that you haven’t heard yet, Bring Me The Head of Zilla Rocca. Many styles, many styles.
You may know Zilla from our last 3 Beat Drops, but the man is better known for writing rhymes than blog posts (though he does that too.)

SOHH is reporting that Consequence’s next album “You Win Some, You Lose Some” is actually coming out. Apparently dude signed with Columbia because Sony/BMG wasn’t really a great situation for him. Its being executive produced by Kanye and Q-Tip, and the projected release date is around Summer 09. They don’t have a tracklist for this yet, but I am eager to see one. I really enjoyed Cons’ first album, and with the addition of Q-Tip to the team this looks to be a classic.
After the jump is Cons’ video for Job Song. One of Cordero’s best.

Off Kidz Bop 15 The Last Kiss. A tagged version of this song has been out for a few weeks, but here it is sans DJ Noise Pollution.
I’m totally playing this the next time I kill someone.

New Souls of Mischief! Sweet. 93 Til Infinity is a great album that doesn’t get enough props, but I’d be lying if I said I was familiar with much of the Souls’ work after that album. There’s been rumors floating around for a while about a new Souls album produced entirely by Prince Paul. In February, I posted a video of A-Plus claiming the album was done. Nothing’s leaked yet; this doesn’t sound like a Prince Paul beat, anyway, but it’s still pretty damn nice.
