Funny Stuff

[I started this post at 2:30 am and it got deleted. Fuck the Internet]

Last night I was closing up at my work and one of my co-workers mentioned that he had the new Young Buck CD via promo. Naturally, I was excited to see and hear it and I offered my man a ride home. As always, on the way home he dropped some classic freestyles, both acapella and over the numerous beat tapes I had in my vehiclc. In fact, I was so enthralled by his raps that night we forgot to listen to the Buck album. So we reached his home and he let me borrow it in exchange for one of my beat CDs. I gladly accepted and then spent the next two hours lost on the winding streets of Anacostia and adjacent DC. All this time I was distressed over not being able to find my way out of Anacostia and I neglected the Buck album. So I finally reached the highway (after I asked like 20 people, none of which talked to me, one person even threw something at me) and listened to the Buck CD on the way home.

I can honestly say I wasn’t impressed. Dude has put out a “Rotten Apple” so to speak. There are no “Stomps” no “Let Me In”. None of that true fire I anticipated from Young Buck. Thats not to say its bad. Its just not that great. In the end you’re still better off listening to mixtape Buck.

I’m not gonna post a full review cause I got the clean version of the album. But I’m sure when I “fill in the fucks” shit still won’t be that hot.

I guess thats it for the Unit then……….

ML’s Riddle 3.21.07

Get your smile on! It’s another concept focused entry series intro time (I promise to keep it alive, as well reviving the other so called concept joints). So, I was sitting in the car with my girl listening to a mix and Tony Yayo‘s ‘So Seductive’ came on, then it really hit me how powerful 50 Cent is in the hip-hop game, shit the entertainment business period. He pretty much gave Yayo a career, who I don’t think could cut it otherwise. The man pretty much has captured the formula that it takes to make a hit record (sales wise at least). Which leads me to the question I wish to share, which you can answer in our comments or take rhetorically.

What if 50 used the same skills he has mastered to put together hit records that leaned more towards the lines of 2pac’s ‘Changes’ and less about girls in the club?

Mobb Deep’s Havoc in Studio Footage

This video isn’t really new to the internets but I just came across it. It’s worth checking out to see Havoc vibin in the studio and the one one female in the room looking completely bored out of her mind. While Prodigy may get more shine, I don’t know if he is much better or better period than Havoc at this current point.

Random interesting character (with sunglasses) in MLB: Gustavo Chacin.

I was randomly scanning the MLB news on espn, and for some random reason I decided to read a brief about some relief pitcher that got hit with a DUI. Nothing exciting there, but the picture in the article stole show. This dude, named Gustavo Chacin, took his photo in his sunglasses…with a goofy smile. I decided to do some more digging and boy did it pay off. Since deadspin is always ahead of the curve, I’ll summarize:

 • He has a cologne named after him and he knows his trends in scents: “This year, amber is going to be a very popular smell. It’s a very sensual note, a very deep note.”.
 • In the laboratory he wears a lab coat… and stylish lab appropriate sunglasses:

I just hope he wasn’t drunk off his cologne, or an ingredient of it.

VIRB-What MySpace should be.

I just came across VIRB, its a new social website which does what MySpace should be doing. All in a stylish and non-clunky environment. The complete opposite of what MySpace was and has become. Now I know MySpace is crazy huge, that’s the only reason ML (and a lot of other org/bands/people) are even on it. With VIRB, hopefully over time there can be a migration to a much more pleasant web experience. They have a limited amount of sign ups per day, so if you don’t get in, drop us an e-mail at djlethal01 at metallungies dot commizle and we’ll hook you up with an invite. Don’t forget to friend us here and spread the word.

He doesn’t need 10 big name producers. Just one.

Some more Emily King.

Check out this performance of her song ‘Walk In My Shoes’.

Looks like she has no problems transferring her sound from the studio to a live performance. I like what I hear/see.

Hip Hop + Art: Notorious B.I.G.

Graffiti is a form of art, as well as being one of the four hip hop elements, which leads me to naturally think hip hop + art is a perfect match. With this ML is launching a new series which will feature hip hop inspired art of all forms.

I will try to do batches of stuff in entries that I find, but to kick it off I just want to do one piece. This is a superb oil painting that coincides with the recent 10th anniversary of the death of the man some also called Frank White. I think alot of hip hop heads would defiantly have this in their living rooms.

If you have any art that you’ve come across that you think is dope and needs some shine or you have some of your own art you’d like to share hit me up at Djlethal01 at metallungies period com.
