Jim Jones <3's Twittering.

You know what ML and Jim Jones share in common? When we twitter, we both smile like little kids on Christmas (even when jail is involved, it takes a lot more to turn the ol’ smile upside down). After watching this news clip, we are almost tempted to start following Jim Jones, but keeping up with the stuff we already follow is a full time job as it is, but if @iamdiddy turns out to be a fake or something, you’re next Jim! By the way, that reporter would make for a nice cameo in a upcoming Jim Jones video.

More hip hop twitter related shit coming soon.. perhaps even tomorrow.

Bishop Lamont: “I did not get dropped from Aftermath”, Video.

Earlier today DJ Vlad had some odd voiceover video claiming Bishop got dropped from Aftermath (I’m not linking to that shit, I have a hard time supporting sites that rip stuff without giving credit). Bishop shoots back his own video and refutes being dropped, promotes a Duck Tales DVD, plays some new music, and answers a bunch of questions. He mentions a track with Warren G and Nate Dogg on the hook, if you were watching Warren G’s ustream tonight, that might have been it (he only had Nate Dogg’s hook looping). PS: A “journalist” would at least attempt to contact the subject in question or state they were not availble for comment, I’m just sayin.

Asher Roth interview with Peter Rosenberg, Video.

Yeah, there might have been a GOOD Music showcase which took over SXSW & Twitter on Saturday night, as well as performances from Raekwon, Bun B, Jadakiss (who had the best on stage commentary of the festival), and many more. But this is the highlight of the week. Skip to the last quarter, it’s so bizarrely random. In the very least, you have to admit that it’s impressive how Asher gets his target demo on lock in seconds, with his presence hypnotizing them to chant in the street like a cute little cult.

Nardwuar interviews T-Pain, Video.

It’s been a moment since we had a new Nardwuar interview. So much awesomeness.. T-Pain stays huddled over laughing. DJ Khaled’s uncle owns something magical establishment called Hip Hop Fish & Chicken? Anyone in Florida care to comment on the quality?

Skip to the last minute, skinny jeans might as well be regarded as leprosy to The Lox.

A Contender for Most Entertaining Rap Interview.

Seriously rivalled only by the infamous “thugginest” interview with NORE (we’ve linked to this twice already, but it never gets old.)  HipHopGame’s latest interview with twotime Beat Drop honouree Alchemist is about a week old, but it’s so damn entertaining that I’m posting it anyway. Alc drops knowledge on getting weed delivered to your room, making beats with pots and pans and the greatness of matzo brie.

Here’s a selection of some of the best parts. On producing:

HHG: Can you take us through the making of an Alchemist beat?

A: Usually I turn the lights down and I’ll put on a record. First I usually stand on my head and I get the blood rushing into my brain because it gets the ideas rushing more. So I’ll stand on my head and I’ll wait for something to catch me on the record or my face is so purple that I have to stand up. It’s good. It’s almost like a high. I’ll find a sound and I’ll go from there. I pretty much just zone out and there really isn’t any method to the madness. I’ll find drum sounds anywhere. I’ll bang pots and pans into the microphone or smash metal cans. I can make my kicks. How did I make a kick? Oh yeah, I remember, I made a kick by turning the record player up really loud and just banging on the turntable and you get an 808 sound. It’s pretty fresh. I stole it from watching Numark on stage with Jurassic 5. I’ll make the kicks myself. It’s pretty much just acting like a complete asshole.

Finale – One Man Show (produced by Black Milk).

Beat the game to download “One Man Show” by Finale. The track has a dope Black Milk beat that sounds like it could have been a leftover from Tronic. Also, if you would rather not play the poorly put together Super Mario Bros. knock off, you can download the track right here instead.

Miss Info Interview With Cam’ron Pt.2 / Behind The Scenes of Killa Season.

We quickly mentioned Part 1 the other day, here is part 2. Most amusing part: Juelz was doing the Sizzurp (not even the liquor!) heavy. 100 Hawaiian Punches mixed on deck?!? I guess their shared loved for the ‘Tussin is why Juelz and Wayne were/are so close.

Also, here is some behind the scenes footage of that movie that ML can’t live with out that was unleashed today as well, not a day year(s) late or anything. Cristal in a water bottle? Check! Balancing water cups on the behinds of Classy ladies? CHECK!!! Random Dip-set goons giddy about their straight to DVD acting debuts? YOU ALREADY KNOW.

Jabari’s roundtable with 9th Wonder, Young Guru, Young Chris & Neef, Pt. 3.

Another part of this interesting sitdown. Young Guru has an interesting point at the end, saying the labels need to develop the best protected format on the internet? With Apple recently going pretty much DRM free, I highly doubt that is the answer. Quality of the format (for the general public) isn’t either.. people are listening to music on youtube!!

"Madlib is dropping the bomb that make me smile." – Busy P (Ed Banger) and PB Wolf (Stones Throw) interviewed.

Via Stones Throw

Here’s a great interview with the heads of two great record labels, Pedro Winter (aka Busy P) of Ed Banger and Chris Manak, aka Peanut Butter Wolf of Stones Throw. There’s some interesting back story behind both labels and Busy P’s answers are all in charmingly broken English  (the title of this post being the best example).

Particularly interesting: Pedro explains how Slum Village ended up remixing Daft Punk’s “Aerodynamic”.

Pedro, how did the Daft Punk remix by Slum Village/Jay Dee occur?
Pedro: You all probably know the classic “Raise it up” from Slum Village. This beat was insane at the time. Jay Dee as usual came up with an avant-garde beat. I did not notice the sample at first sight, but a friend of us was there and say, “Hey hey hold on, isn’t it a Daft sound?” And fuck yes! It was in fact a sample from Thomas Bangalter’s solo project for his label Roulé.
Instead of loosing our time and react as ass holes and ask for money or shit, I propose to the Daft boys to take care of it and ask a remix in exchange of the use of that sample. I met Dilla in Miami and he was of course up for it and was really friendly. He is from Detroit and electronic music never scared him. We were so happy with the result and the shout out. It was a simple and nice adventure. I feel really lucky to have met Jay Dee it was 8 or 9 years ago.

And of course, the sample for “Raise It Up”, Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk’s “Extra Dry”:
