I watched the condensed footage over at the BBC (has the best quality), and by all looks Jay killed it. I mean coming out covering Wonderwall?? Pretty gangster. Was he really playing the guitar? who cares! While Beyonce was on the side of the stage wylin out during Encore, does anyone know who the dude was that come on to the stage to throw up the roc?
This is by far my favorite Chicago song, I’ve always dreamt of someone sampling it or even remixing it. Bird Peterson answered my prayers brining the horn section into the new millennium.
Late pass please, I remember reading about it around the time it came out in 2006 but I’ve never actually seen it till now. If you haven’t seen this it is pretty funny, the casting is great, think hip-hop meets Spinal Tap. Stars Snoop Dogg as Head, David Banner as David, Lil John as Jonathon Davis, and Xzibit as Fieldy. I miss rocking out to Korn in Middle school.
For those of you who give a shit, Radiohead announced the second leg of their upcoming tour. Montreal and San Diego! thats what im talkin bout baby. (spotted via brooklynvegan)
The 24 year old singer-songwriter living in Brooklyn (I can only imagine how many blogs have typed those very same words) is releasing his self-titled debut on July 1 with Say Hey Records. I jumped on this when I saw who Miles has been working with. His new single “Buriedfed” was recorded by Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear) and performed with Chris Bear, Daniel Rosen (Grizzly Bear) and Kyp Malone (T.V. on the Radio). Yellow House (Grizzly Bear) and Return to Cookie Mountain (TVOTR) were two of my favorite records of the last couple years, so I was sub-consciously expecting something special. And something special I received. “Buriedfed” starts out with a folksy flavor, reminiscent of Bon Iver or Elvis Perkins, and builds into a garage rock anthem driven by Robinson’s drunken voice. Check out some other tunes here.
For all my peeps in NYC Miles will be at the Mercury Lounge tonight with Howlin’ Rain.
I’ve included some you’ll-love-this-if-you-like-the-first-song-mp3’s for your listening pleasure:
Pitchfork: Can you elaborate on what a more experimental Weezer record might sound like?
RC: Longer songs, non-traditional song forms, different people writing and singing, instrument switching, TR-808s, synths, Southern rap, and baroque counterpoint– for starters.
When asked for clarification on the rapping part:
Pitchfork: Oh, and who’s doing the rapping?
RC: Moi.
Now, I love both the Blue Album & Pinkerton very dearly. But that sounds like a fucking awful idea. Is he taking a page from Cosby’s book? What would “Buddy Holly” sound like with 808s?

It’s been a while since when we heard the smash song, Stonger, for the first time, and it’s about time Kanye hooked up with Daft Punk for a live rendition.
Foo Fighters & John Paul Jones with the strings section was pretty damn good too:
and y’all can breathe a sigh of relief Soulja didn’t win anything, but Herbie (rightfully) surprised the world!
Chances are, what you’re about to read is the latest 2007 wrap-up amongst the hip hop blogosphere. And I don’t mean “latest” as in the “newest”. I mean “latest” as in everybody has done this before we did, and as a result, we’re late. Like how you wouldn’t want your girl’s period to be.
To that, we say this — how could you truly wrap up 2007 when 2007 is still going on?
Here’s how we’re wrapping up 2007 ML-style, in this, the first of several “Best of 2007” posts. First, each of us here at ML — DJ01, HangoverMonkey, DSuper, Aaron M, and yours truly, Buhizzle — compiled our own personal list of the top 10 albums of the year. Then, on some quasi-NCAA-poll-type shit, we compared lists and compiled a (somewhat) comprehensive top 10 list based on all of our picks. Here at ML, we pride ourselves on having 5 different contributors with 5 different personalities and unique tastes in music generally, and in hip hop specifically — after the jump, peep how our personalities and tastes overlap.
A little something from Stones Throw to warm your hearth in this cold season. Badd Santa is a dope compilation of really bizarre and great Christmas (and a little Kwanzaa) music, from reggae to Miami bass.
Here’s a sweet little promo ST made for the album.
You can check it out here. There’s a nice mix of the Badd Santa songs available through the Stones Throw Podcast too, mixed by label head Peanut Butter Wolf.
For all my fellow Heebs celebrating the last night of Channukah tonight: Fatlace Magazine hipped me to Shady Records head Paul Rosenberg’s annual Hannukah Radio show on Shade 45 on Sirius Satellite Radio, with special guests DJ AM, actor Jonah Hill (Superbad kicks ass) & Marky Ramone of the Ramones! Takes a while to load but it’s worth it.
Another new feature: guest appearances by rappers that make you scratch your head and say “WTF?”
I’m starting this off with a sublimely ridiculous pairing: KRS-One & nu-rap-metal 1 hit wonders Crazy Town on the latter’s song, “B-Boy 2000.”
I’m not even giving you an mp3 of this one because I’m so ashamed on KRS’s behalf.
The song starts with Crazy Town singer Epic (wish I was kidding) claiming “we’re taking hip-hop to a new level.” The then-34 year old Kris Parker sounds confused and old on this song, and his mercifully brief verse is not much better than Crazy Town singer’s verse. (I refuse to type his name again). Why is that?
If anyone has any other suggestions for future entries in the “WTF?” appearances, let me know in the comments or email me at aaron.shadescythe [at]gmail.com.
